Copying emails

You can make a copy of an email and then change it for your current campaign needs. When you copy the email, Oracle Eloqua copies the email settings and design. After you make a copy, you'll want to open the copy and make sure you configure it for your current needs.

Important: Emails with links should not be copied, this can cause issues with tracking and reporting. It is recommended to create a template without email links, so the tracking information is not persisted to an unrelated email. If an email with links is copied, the elqtrackID must be deleted and upon saving, Eloqua will assign a unique trackID per link to the email.

Tip: You can also consider creating an email template instead of copying an email. Templates are an easy way to speed up your email creation process, reduce errors, and ensure consistency.

To create a copy of an email:

  1. Navigate to Assets An image of the Assets icon, which is represented by a black pencil., then click Emails.
  2. Search for the email you want to copy.
  3. Copy the email:
    • In the classic UI, right-click the email and select Copy.
    •
    • In the Redwood experience, click Actions Copy.

  4. The copied email appears with the word Copy appended to the name.

  5. Open the copy and make the changes you need.
