Introducing your first campaign

A good place to begin the life-cycle with your new prospective buyers is simply to say “hello.” A welcome campaign is a great way to immediately engage and start a conversation. It can help you both learn more about each other, and enable you to respond based on who they are and what actions they have taken. This allows you to create highly personalized and relevant experiences for your customers and prospects.

Welcome campaigns are also a very easy starting point if you are new to automating the nurture process. New contacts are easy to identify and segment, the automation flow is simple, and you typically have great content already available. Simply look to your website or blog, case studies, or white papers for content and calls to action to include in your welcome emails.

Using automation to make a positive impression early in your relationship with these prospects can help set the stage for future campaign success and hopefully gain you a customer for life!

The campaign that we'll be using throughout our getting started experience is based on a simple welcome campaign. In our campaign example, we assume that a prospect has subscribed to our mailing list, and we are offering them a free trial download of our company’s software for a limited time. Whether they download the trial or not, they are added to our company's monthly newsletter.

Our overall campaign looks like this:

In this getting started tutorial, we'll walk you through:

  • Creating this campaign flow
  • Configuring some of the elements of the campaign
  • Creating some of the campaigns assets (that is, emails, landing pages, and forms)

To learn more about the elements of the campaign, see Welcome campaign checklist.

Before you start

This tutorial is part of a series of tutorials to teach you how to use Oracle Eloqua. While it walks you through the process of launching the campaign, we are working in a test environment. Before creating this welcome campaign and associated assets in your environment, we recommend you check with your administrator. Working with a live environment is not recommended without taking precautions.
