Adding fields to a form
After you've set up the fields for your form, you can add these fields to your hosted form (for example, in a landing page, microsite, or webpage) to automate the creation of contacts in Responsys Express as well as contact updates and updates to their subscription status..
Prerequisites:
- You must have created the form using the visual form designer and saved your form before being able to copy the form fields' basic HTML snippet.
To add the fields to an existing HTML form:
- Click
from any page in Responsys Express. - Click Forms.
You're redirected to the Forms list page.
- Click on the form you'd like to add to your webpage.
- Choose Actions > Export HTML.
- On the Export HTML panel, select Rich or Basic.
- Click Copy .
These are the input fields for your form. Learn more about what each HTML element means. For example, if you selected email address, first name, and last name for your inputs, you would copy this HTML. For example:
<form action='https://news.example.com/forms/submit' method='post'>
<input type='hidden' id='_ft_' name='_ft_' value='ABEoPglY20RwsC-_O61NOq1O06ERkK3zF8nY18PmKE_BwGltGz7TFO9zI7_1TttHjDi8VdxGMQVKQ' />
<input type='text' id='emailAddress' name='emailAddress'/>
<input type='text' id='firstName' name='firstName'/>
<input type='text' id='lastName' name='lastName'/>
</form>
- Paste the HTML into your form.
If you have an existing form, make sure the input fields are mapped to the appropriate attribute that you are updating and that the form includes the POST URL to the Responsys Express form itself for a successful submission
Now data from your form submits is sent to Responsys Express. Your contacts are updated according to what you configured in the form's Rules tab. Note that it's important to test your form with a test contact.
