Managing mobile app uninstall tracking

Oracle Responsys detects mobile app uninstalls when you launch Push campaigns. But with mobile app uninstall tracking enabled for your mobile apps, Responsys will track mobile app uninstalls independently of sending Push campaigns. Having more information about app uninstalls can help you understand the root cause of mobile app uninstalls and fix issues. You can also gain insights that will help you plan how to retain your app users in the future.

Mobile app uninstalls detected by this process are logged in the new app uninstall tracking columns in the app channel list, as follows:

  • CHANNEL_DELIVERABILITY_REASON is logged as APP_UNINSTALL_CHECK_FEEDBACK.

  • UNINSTALLED_AT_DATE stores the timestamp (date and time) that the app uninstall was detected by Responsys.

Enabling mobile apps for uninstall tracking

The App Uninstall Tracking page shows all of the mobile apps that are correctly configured in the App Developer Console and that are connected to an app channel list. Only mobile apps that are completely configured in Responsys can be eligible for mobile app uninstall tracking.

To enable a mobile app for uninstall tracking:

  1. If you aren't already on the page, select The Account iconAccount on the side navigation bar. In the Search menu box, type App Uninstall Tracking, and then click the link in the search results. The App Uninstall Tracking page is displayed.

  2. When app uninstall tracking is off Toggle button when mobile app uninstall tracking is off. In its off position, the toggle button is shown as a small grey box with a white box taking up the left half of it. , you'll only see the app name. Click the toggle to turn it on Toggle button when mobile app uninstall tracking is on. In its on position, the toggle button is shown as a small green box with a white box taking up the right half of it. .

    • When app uninstall tracking is successfully turned on, it will add a Last Run details section. The section will start showing details after the first successful check for mobile app uninstalls.

    • If the mobile app can't be enabled, the system will show a message at the top of the page, stating that it failed to enable the app. See Troubleshooting mobile app uninstall tracking for more details.

To disable mobile app uninstall tracking:

  1. If you aren't already on the page, select The Account iconAccount on the side navigation bar. In the Search menu box, type App Uninstall Tracking, and then click the link in the search results. The App Uninstall Tracking page is displayed.

  2. Click the toggle to turn it off Toggle button when mobile app uninstall tracking is off. In its off position, the toggle button is shown as a small grey box with a white box taking up the left half of it. . The system displays a confirmation message. If you continue, Responsys will not longer regularly attempt to detect deliverability status of your app uninstalls. The system will only obtain app uninstall data when you launch Push campaigns.

View details about the last run

For each app enabled for mobile app uninstall tracking, the App Uninstall Tracking page shows the following details about the last time mobile app uninstall tracking was run:
