Throttling a Campaign Launch

When you launch a campaign, you want to get your message out as quickly as possible. However, to prevent slow responses or even a shutdown from too much volume, you might want to control the rate at which messages are sent. For example, you might want to limit spikes in web site visits to fit the capacity of your web infrastructure. This is known as the launch throttle rate.

Account Administrator can specify the default launch throttle rate for email, SMS, and push campaigns for the account.

NOTES

  • Launch throttling is used only for batch-launched email campaigns.
  • Campaign designers can override the default throttle rate when launching the campaign.

To define the launch throttle rate:

  1. From the side navigation bar, select Account . (If you do not see the side navigation bar, click the Menu button (aka Hamburger menu) icon.)
  2. Select Campaign management, and then select Launch throttle rate. (Not seeing this choice? Refer to the Account management changes topic.)

The Launch throttle rate page opens.

  3. Enter the desired number of messages per hour for email, SMS, and/or push campaigns.

The minimum throttle rate is 3,600 messages per hour.

  4. Click Save.
