Define a field ID for a custom field

When you create a custom field, the system automatically assigns it a unique alphanumeric field ID. To make it easier for users who need to report and script on custom fields, you should establish a meaningful naming convention for your field IDs. You can change the default ID to one that complies with these conventions. The field ID can’t be changed after the field is created. You can define a field ID from an existing transaction entry or other record entry, or from the Customization section Fields page.
