Void a credit memo

Void an eligible credit memo from its More actions menu to close it and reverse its general ledger impact without deleting its transaction history. If the credit memo was created from a return authorization, voiding it also reopens that authorization for processing.

Before you begin

You need an existing credit memo for which Void is available. Review any applications or related transactions before voiding it.

To void a credit memo:

  1. On any page containing the credit memo, select the credit memo number to open the transaction in view mode.

  2. From the More actions list, select Void.

This action closes the credit memo and reverses its impact on the general ledger. After voiding the transaction, you can no longer update the fields that have general ledger impact, such as changing the posting period.

If a credit memo was created from a return authorization, voiding the credit memo reopens the return authorization. To ensure that the transaction is processed, you must create a new credit memo from the return authorization.
