Void an invoice

Void an eligible invoice from its More actions menu to close it and reverse its general ledger impact without deleting its transaction history. If the invoice was created from a sales order, voiding it also reopens that order for invoicing.

Before you begin

You need an existing invoice for which Void is available. Review any related sales order because voiding an invoice created from a sales order reopens that order for invoicing.

To void an invoice:

  1. On any page containing the invoice, select the invoice number to open the transaction in view mode.

  2. From the More actions list, select Void.

This action closes the invoice and reverses its impact on the general ledger. After voiding the transaction, you can no longer update the fields that have general ledger impact, including changing the posting period.

If an invoice was created from a sales order, voiding the invoice reopens the sales order. To ensure that the transaction is processed, you must create a new invoice from the sales order.
