Select the field type for a new custom field

When you create a custom field, you select the field type that’s appropriate for the type of information you want to collect. Specifying the type of custom field reduces errors when people are entering information. For example, for a yes or no option, a checkbox might be suitable, whereas a description field would require the text type. You can select the field type for a new custom field from an existing instance of a transaction or other record, or from the Customization section Fields page.
