Recurring journal entries
Recurring journal entries let you set up journal entries to get created automatically on a set schedule. If your business has predictable journal entries that need to be created daily, weekly, monthly, or yearly, creating recurring journal entries can streamline your bookkeeping and help reduce manual effort and errors.
Open Menu > Accounting > Journal, and then select Recurring journal entries.
Journal entries created from recurring journal entries are subject to the same approval rules as journal entries created manually.
Custom fields or segments added to a recurring journal entry template will carry over to all journal entries created from that template.
While you can’t attach files to a recurring journal entry template, you can attach files to journal entries that are created from that template.
After you create a recurring journal entry, the following tabs appear:
- Journal entry lines displays the template’s debit and credit lines.
- Created journal entries lists entries created automatically or with Create now.
- Automated process results lists automatic generation attempts and their outcomes. Entries created with Create now are not included on this tab.
