Get started with the QuickStart onboarding wizard
Complete the onboarding wizard when you first sign in to tailor QuickStart to your business. QuickStart uses AI-assisted recommendations based on your answers to add suggested accounts to the initial chart of accounts and select the initial Home page metrics for supported access profiles. You can also connect a bank and begin importing transactions.
Before you begin
Have the following information available:
- A description of your business and the products or services you offer.
- Optionally, a business plan or investor deck in PDF, DOCX, PPTX, JPEG, or PNG format. The maximum file size is 25 MB.
- If you plan to connect a bank, the credentials required by your financial institution and authorization to accept the MX Technologies terms on behalf of your company.
To complete the onboarding wizard:
- On the Tell us more about your business page, review any information that QuickStart pre-filled from your company website, and update it if needed.
- In Choose your type of business, select the option that best describes your business.
- In Describe your company, enter a description of up to 3,500 characters. The description must also fit within the 4,000-byte storage limit. Accented characters, emoji, and some other characters use more than one byte, so QuickStart can reject a description even when it contains fewer than 3,500 characters. If this happens, shorten the description and try again. QuickStart uses this description to customize your account.
- Under What do you offer your customers?, select one or more of the following options:
- Digital products
- Physical products
- Services
- To let QuickStart suggest values for the business fields, upload a business plan or investor deck under Will you share more with us?. After QuickStart processes the file, select Yes, use it to apply the suggestions. Review the values populated in the business fields. If the suggestions are not suitable, turn Yes, use it off to restore the previous values, and then update the fields manually. This step is optional.
- Select Continue.
- On the Connect your bank to simplify reconciliation page, choose one of the following options:
- To continue without a bank connection, select Skip and set up later, and then select Skip for now. Continue with step 11.
- To import bank and credit card transactions automatically, select Connect bank. By selecting this button, you accept the displayed MX Technologies terms.
- Select your financial institution and complete its authentication flow.
- On the Select your accounts page, select at least one bank or credit card account. To connect a different financial institution, select Change bank.
- In Import from, select the first date for imported transactions, and then select Import data and complete setup. You can select Today, This month, This year to date, or Last year to date. This month is selected by default.
- Wait while QuickStart completes the account setup. This usually takes 1 to 2 minutes. QuickStart opens the Home page when setup is complete.
The Home page displays First Steps with recommended tasks for completing your setup.
If you connected a bank, QuickStart creates the corresponding bank or credit card accounts and starts the initial transaction import from the date you selected. If you skipped the connection, you can connect a bank later. For more information, see Connect a bank to automate transaction imports.
Review the generated account setup
Automated recommendations can be incomplete or unsuitable for your accounting requirements. Review the generated setup before entering business transactions:
- On the Home page, review the selected metrics and their order. To change them, select Personalize view. See Personalize your Home page.
- Open Menu > Accounting > Chart of accounts.
- Review the account names, numbers, types, and parent relationships. The chart also contains mandatory system accounts that QuickStart requires.
- Add any missing business accounts before using the chart for transactions. You can create accounts individually or import them from a CSV file. See Get started with chart of accounts.
QuickStart does not label AI-suggested accounts differently from other accounts in a production account. Confirm the purpose and accounting treatment of every account with an authorized accounting professional.
