Copy an invoice
Copy an existing invoice when you want to create another invoice with similar information. QuickStart creates a separate transaction with a new document number and does not copy transactions linked to the original invoice. Open the invoice from the Invoices list or another page that displays its invoice number.
Before you begin
You need access to the copy action and an existing invoice in any status. Review the original invoice and confirm that it is the correct source, especially when several invoices have similar customers, items, or amounts.
To copy an invoice
- Open the invoice from the Invoices list or another page that displays its invoice number.
-
Select More actions > Copy.
You can also select Copy in the Actions column on the Invoices list.
- Review the customer, date, items, quantities, rates, terms, and amounts on the copied invoice. Update the information that must differ from the original invoice.
- Optionally, enter a Memo that explains why you created the copy.
- Select Save as draft or Submit.
The copied invoice is independent of the original invoice. Save as draft leaves it in draft status. Submit processes it as a new invoice.
The following values are not copied unchanged:
- Date defaults to today’s date.
- Due date is calculated from the date and terms.
- Rate retains a manually entered rate. When the original rate came from a price rule, QuickStart recalculates it using the price rule applicable to the copy.
- Purchase order is empty.
- Base amount, Total discount, Amount, Tax amount, and Total amount are recalculated from the copied transaction details.
- Term discount date is calculated from the date and terms.
- Term discount is calculated from the terms and total.
- Posting period is determined from the transaction date.
