Create a subscription plan

Create a subscription plan when you want to reuse the same subscription schedule and item lines for multiple customers. Open Menu, select Subscriptions, and then select Manage subscriptions.

Create the plan

  1. Open Menu, select Subscriptions, and then select Manage subscriptions.

  2. Select the Subscription plans tab.

  3. Select Create subscription plan.

  4. Enter a name and, optionally, a description.

  5. Select the billing frequency, billing mode, and duration type.

  6. In the Items section, select Add item.

  7. In Item, select an existing service item. If no item is available, select Create new item. In the Create new sellable item drawer, enter the Display Name and Item ID, enter the Base Price, select the Income Account, and then select Create. QuickStart creates and selects the service item on the plan line.

  8. Enter the quantity and rate, and select the line type.

  9. Select Apply to add the line to the plan.

  10. Select Submit.

What happens next

After you submit a plan, you can select Create subscription from the plan or select the plan while creating a subscription. The plan’s Subscriptions tab lists the subscriptions that use it.

Important limitation

For a plan with usage-based lines, set billing mode to In arrears. A usage line that you add to a new plan starts with quantity 0 and total amount $0.00.
