Resource Center
The Resource Center feature aims to give resource managers a resource allocation, scheduling, monitoring and tracking tool all on a single page in one place. It shares much of its functionality with the existing Project Center feature, used by project managers to plan, staff and monitor a single project, but with the broader, organizational-level perspective, to optimize resource utilization and balance demands across a portfolio of competing projects.
The Resource Center lets you:
-
Get an overview of resource utilization and allocation across your organization's project portfolio. See Reviewing Resource Utilization in the Resource Center.
-
Drill down the Resource → Project → Project task → Job code → Booking type hierarchy to track and analyze allocation across projects, tasks, booking-level job codes (if available) and booking classification for each resource.
-
Switch between monthly and weekly views in the resource center booking grid for a different perspective.
-
Identify overallocations at a glance with color indicators.
-
-
Make changes to bookings at the lowest drill-down level (booking type). See Managing Resource Bookings in the Resource Center.
-
Reassign bookings to a different resource using search and select functionality.
-
Edit hours booked for each week or month in the booking grid. You can copy multiple cell values using the copy and paste or fill handle functionality.
-
Edit booking information such as Booking type and Notes.
-
To access the resource center, go to Resources > Resource Center.
The resource center includes the following components:
1 |
Toolbar — The toolbar includes some of the options available for lists throughout SuiteProjects Pro as well as functionality specific to the resource center view such as the ability to change the booking grid granularity, and to save your changes. See Resource Center Toolbar. |
2 |
Resource and booking information — The left side of the canvas shows resource, project, and booking information. You can personalize the resource center page by selecting information columns, using advanced filters, controlling column widths and the divider position between resource list and booking grid. |
3 |
Booking grid — The booking grid on the right side of the canvas shows a forward-looking summary of hours booked for each resource. Depending on the selected granularity, the booking grid shows a week-by week or month-by-month schedule. Each column corresponds to a week or month and the column header shows the first day of the week or month. |

To enable this feature, contact SuiteProjects Pro Support.
The Resource Center feature requires the following to be enabled:
-
The Inline-Editing in Lists optional feature.
-
Require booking type when booking resources (Administration > Application Settings > resources > Other Settings).
After the feature is enabled, account administrators control who can use the Resource Center by role permission.
Test the resource center feature extensively on a sandbox account or during release preview before you enable it on your production account.
Note the following difference of behavior:
-
If you add a booking in the resource center, a separate booking record is created for each week or month you book the resource, depending on the granularity of the resource center booking grid.
-
If you create a booking using the booking form, you can create a single booking record for any length of time.
