Entering Operating Expense Budget Values by Department

The form summarizes the operating expenses in the selected Currency by Department, using the NetSuite General Ledger accounts.

Use the OpEx by Department Budget form to enter departmental Budgets.

To enter the operating expense Forecast by Department at Account level:

To see the results of your changes, go to the 4 tab in the Budget card and review the Income Statement - Budget form.

  1. From the Home page, click the Budget card.

  2. Click the 3 tab on the left.

  3. Click OpEX by Department.

  4. In the Point of View (POV), choose a Scenario, Version, Subsidiary, Currency, and Department.

    Note:

    To enter Budget values in this form, set your POV to level 0 members.

  5. To update the Budget value on an Account, click the arrow in the cell where the relevant Account row intersects the Trend OpEx Budget column.

    Select Prior Yr Forecast. Or, select Manual to manually enter Budget values.

    Note:

    You can only enter Budget values where the trend is set to Manual or is blank.

  6. For Account members set to Prior Yr Forecast, in the Adj (%) column, enter the percentage change as a decimal value. For example, enter 0.01 for a 1% increase or -0.01 for a 1% decrease.

    Warning:

    If you enter a percentage value in the Adj (%) column for an Account set to Manual, the adjustment won't be applied.

  7. For Account members set to Manual, enter the Budget values for each period. Or, in the Total column, enter the total Budget value.

    Note:

    If there are no previous values in the data grid for the Account row, the total spreads evenly over the periods. If previous values exist, the total spreads proportionally.

  8. Click Save.

  9. To update top-level members with the adjusted data in the input currency, right-click the data grid and select Aggr to Income Statement Budget.
