Comparing the Full-Year Actual and Forecast Variances

The FY Act vs Fcst Var and Comment form displays net income variances between the full-year Actual and full-year Forecast by Subsidiary and Department. You can use this form to review and compare the full-year Actuals against an active or archived Forecast. Each variance appears as a value and percentage. The form also includes the option to add commentary at the Department level.

Note:

Substitution variables are used to set up Years, Current and Previous Periods, and Version members.

Form values populate based on the following calculations:

• The Act vs Fcst $ column displays the variance between the full-year Actual and Forecast values.

  Act vs Fcst $ = Full-Year Actual – Full-Year Forecast

• The Act vs Fcst % column displays the variance between the full-year Actual and Forecast values, expressed as a percentage.

  Act vs Fcst % = ((Full-Year Actual – Full-Year Forecast) ÷ Full-Year Forecast) × 100

To review full-year Actual and Forecast variances:

1. From the Home page, click the Reporting and Analytics card.

2. Click the 1 tab on the left-hand side to go to the Forecast Variance Reports.

3. Click FY Act vs Fcst Var and Comment.

4. In the Point of View, select a Version, Subsidiary, Currency, and Department.

5. To apply the changes, click the Go icon .

   The full year Actuals appear in the Actual column. The full year Forecast values appear in the Forecast column, for comparison.

6. If necessary, enter any comments in the open (white) cells in the last column.

   Note:

   You cannot enter commentary at Total Department level.

   Tip:

   To display all the text on a row, click the cell to open the text box and drag the box's handle to resize the box.

7. (Optional) To view a detailed analysis of a specific Account member, right-click the Account and select Drill to Income Statement Details.

   The Income Statement - Account Details form opens in a new tab. The form displays Actual and Forecast data at a detailed level in the context of Relationship, Department, Class, Item, and Location.

   1. To return to the initial form, click FY Act vs Fcst Var and Comment at the bottom of the page.

8. Click Save.

9. To refresh the data area with the latest updates, click Refresh.
