Custom Data Syncs Between NetSuite and Salesforce

Custom data sync lets you configure data synchronization between supported NetSuite records and Salesforce objects. Data that is not covered by a prebuilt Salesforce Connector sync can be synced using custom data sync. Each custom data sync is unidirectional. You can synchronize either from NetSuite to Salesforce or from Salesforce to NetSuite.

This article explains the custom data sync workflow and its requirements. For more information, see Custom Data Sync Workflow.

See the following to configure and manage a custom data sync:

Custom Data Syncs Prerequisites

Important:

Decide the direction of the data sync and which application owns each record or field before you configure sync. Avoid updating the same data in both applications, because custom data sync does not automatically reconcile conflicting updates.

Before you configure a custom data sync, complete the following requirements:

  • The NetSuite Connector Platform is licensed, and the Salesforce connection is valid.

  • The Salesforce integration user has read and write access to the Salesforce objects and fields used by the data sync. For custom-object access, see Configuring Custom Object Access for the Salesforce Integration User.

  • For every Salesforce custom object used by the data sync, an available field is selected as both External ID and Unique.

  • You have the permission required to configure data flows and view metadata for the NetSuite records and Salesforce objects that you select.

  • Required destination fields and related records are available before the data sync runs.

  • Select only NetSuite records and Salesforce objects that are available in the source and destination fields.

Custom Data Syncs Limitations

Note:

When you first activate a custom data sync, only source records created or updated after activation are considered. Existing source records are not processed automatically.

  • A custom data sync supports one direction only. Synchronization within the same platform is not supported. For example, NetSuite and within Salesforce are not supported.

  • Salesforce-to-NetSuite custom data syncs support one source and one target per data sync.

  • Complex, unbounded child-record and sublist synchronization is not supported.

  • Unsupported binary and file payloads can't be synchronized.
