Working with Advanced Catalog Templates

Note:

Advanced catalog templates are called origins on the user interface.

Advanced catalog templates let you define multiple search fields. You can choose as many fields as required. When using an advanced catalog template, set advanced filter expressions to specify values for these search fields. For more information about advanced filter expressions, see Working with Basic or Advanced Filter Expressions.

To create an advanced catalog template:

  1. In NetSuite, go to Guided Selling > System > Origins.

  2. Click New CPQG Origin.

  3. Enter a descriptive name for the catalog template.

Users view this name in the Origin field on the catalog interface.

  4. In the Code field, enter a unique identifier for this catalog.

The code must contain only uppercase letters, numbers, and underscores. A shortened version of the name can be used as the code.

  5. In the Record Type field, select item to let users search for items.

    Note:

You could select a different record type to include in the catalog. However, catalogs are specifically tailored to work with items.

  6. To include inactive items in the search, check the Show inactive items box. For example, you can enable this option for maintenance purposes.

    Note:

An item is inactive when the Inactive box is checked. You can find this option under the System Information subtab on the item record.

  7. To include pricing information on the catalog interface, check the Load NS item prices box. Price amounts are displayed in:

    • The Price field in the tiles of the grid view.

    • The Price column in the list view.

    Note:

To display prices, don't add the Price field under the Fields subtab.

  8. To let users sort items by price on the catalog interface, check the Include price in custom Sort By box.

Enabling this option makes the Price option available in the Sort By field on the catalog interface.

  9. To specify the fields you want to load for the search request, go to the Fields subtab.

These are the fields you want to use to search for items.

  10. Under the Field ID column, enter as many field IDs as required.

  11. Catalogs use IDs to search options for dropdown list and multi-select fields. To search by the option label instead of the option ID, check the Get text label box.

  12. Click Save.

After creating the advanced template (called the origin), assign it to the catalog.

To assign an advanced template to a catalog:

  1. Edit a catalog record (called a product record).

  2. Go to the Origins subtab.

  3. In the Origin field, select the advanced template.

  4. Click Add.

  5. Click Save.
