Ask Oracle
This topic describes functionality available to users eligible for NetSuite Next. NetSuite Next is being made available to customers in phases, so these features may not yet be available in your account. You'll receive in-app notifications when your account is eligible for NetSuite Next.
Ask Oracle is the AI-powered assistant you can have conversations with in NetSuite Next using natural language. It's designed to answer your questions and to help you get useful business insights from your data. Ask Oracle is available in the login portlet at the top right of the screen. To open Ask Oracle, hover above it and click Launch Ask Oracle.
Get insights about your business data by opening Ask Oracle and entering a prompt. A prompt is a question or request you want Ask Oracle to help you with. Ask for a simple list of overdue invoices, or send advanced prompts such as requesting a bar chart for this fiscal year's sales by item.

Getting answers with Ask Oracle
-
Open Ask Oracle.
-
Enter your prompt.
-
Press Enter and Ask Oracle will provide an answer.
-
If you need more help, continue the conversation until you find the answer you're looking for.
Ask follow-up questions to refine a previous Ask Oracle answer. For example, after Ask Oracle returns a list, ask it to show the same information as a table, chart, or shorter summary. Business data changes, to work with the latest information, request Ask Oracle to fetch the latest data or start a new chat.
Start a new chat when you change topics or need Ask Oracle to use current source data. This helps the assistant focus on your current task and avoid using details from a previous, unrelated request. Click the new chat icon (+) at the top left of the chat panel to start a new conversation.
Ask Oracle replies in the language selected in your NetSuite account and user preferences. Where supported, responses, explanations, conversation titles, and status messages appear in that language.
If Ask Oracle doesn't give you the results you expected, share your feedback using the feedback buttons. It helps make sure future versions respond to the prompts you need answers for.
Protected Actions in Ask Oracle
Ask Oracle may ask you to approve a protected action before it continues with its response. A protected action is an action that can change data or continue a process that needs your review.
When Ask Oracle requires approval, it pauses the flow and shows information about the proposed action.
-
To allow the action, click the approval control shown in Ask Oracle.
-
To stop the action, click the decline or cancel control.
Review the information before you respond. If you decline the action, let the approval expire, or leave the session, Ask Oracle doesn't complete the protected action. Start the request again if you still want Ask Oracle to help with the task.
Tips for the Best Ask Oracle Results
-
Vague terms - Use precise field names, record types, and statuses in your prompts (for example, use "Pending Fulfillment" instead of "open").
-
Ambiguous terms - Vague business terms like "open" or "delayed" can deliver unexpected results.
-
Context aware prompts- When you enter a prompt that refers to you, Ask Oracle uses your signed-in user context to interpret the request. For example, ask for sales orders assigned to you. This helps Ask Oracle return results that match your user context without requiring you to enter your name or employee details.
-
Focused conversations- Keep each chat thread to one topic (start a new chat when you switch subjects). This improves response quality and makes threads easier to find in the chat history.
Following these best practices, Ask Oracle can help you with prompts such as the ones in the following table:
|
Task |
Sample prompts |
|---|---|
|
Ask for help using the application |
|
|
Get details about records and transactions |
|
|
Leverage business performance insights |
|
|
Extract information from files |

If Ask Oracle isn't sure about its response, it adds an interpretation note before its answer. In this note, it explains what it understood from your prompt and gives an answer based on that interpretation. Ask follow-up questions or rephrase your prompt if the answer is not what you were looking for.
Use the feedback feature to help improve how Ask Oracle can help you with completing your daily tasks.
