Configure contract hour overtime rules

The following section describes how to set up overtime to automatically apply to any hours worked or scheduled outside of Contract Hours if overtime applies when there is no Agreed Variation via the Workforce Management functionality.

If you do not set up overtime options, Contract Hours will still work - and hours outside of contract will still be shown to users - however, no automatic overtime will apply, (In this instance you will be able to generate reports with a list of hours worked outside of Contract Hours).

Setup

There is a rule that can be set to calculate appropriate penalties/overtime rates for periods of time outside of their Agreed Contract Hours (or Agreed variations to their Contract Hours) that they work.

This can be enabled within any Agreement by creating a new overtime condition, or updating an existing overtime condition (by adding extra rules).

The option "fall outside of contract hours" will be used to create the rule for contract hours. Keep in mind that multiple clauses within a single rule will only apply if all clauses are met, allowing for different rates for time outside of Contract Hours on a public holiday, for instance.

For example purposes only below we walk through the creation a new wage condition. To create a new condition, make sure your user has access to edit Wage Agreement & go to Setup > Wage Setup. Select the agreement you are adding to, and click the Conditions tab:

1

At the bottom you will see an option to Create new.

Name the condition & select Overtime Rate.

A typical Outside Contract Hours condition/rule is shown below:

Once you have configured this, you will need to make sure you add it to any applicable classifications.

To add this extra rule onto any of your existing overtime conditions instead of creating new ones, you can edit the overtime conditions you need & add this extra rule.

Note:

In this situation, you can create this rule to only apply from a certain date, so it doesn’t affect any historical data:
