Selecting a Tax Engine for Tax Registrations on Migrated Subsidiary Records

When legacy subsidiary records are migrated to SuiteTax, the Tax Engine column is added to the Tax Registrations subtab and its value is set to blank. To properly calculate taxes on a transaction, you must select the correct tax engine for each tax registration on subsidiary records.

A tax engine must be set up in your NetSuite account. For information about tax engine plug-in implementations, contact your NetSuite account manager.

To select the tax engine for tax registrations on migrated subsidiary records:

  1. Go to Setup > Company > Subsidiaries.

  2. Click the Edit link next to the subsidiary that you want to edit.

  3. On the subsidiary record, click the Tax Registrations subtab.

  4. Click the Tax Engine column for the tax registration line that you want to edit.

  5. Click the Tax Engine dropdown list and select a tax engine for the nexus. The list shows the tax engine implementations that have been added and activated in your account.

    Tip:

If you are not required to track and report taxes, you can skip the tax engine selection on the subsidiary tax registration and mark the nexus as tax-exempt instead.

  6. Click OK.

  7. Repeat Steps 4 through 6 for each tax registration without a tax engine on the subsidiary record.

  8. Click Save.

Repeat this procedure for each migrated subsidiary record.

After setting up the tax engines on migrated subsidiary records, you need to confirm that the SuiteTax setup is complete. To confirm the SuiteTax setup and view the migration status, see Viewing the SuiteTax Data Migration Status.
