Support for Accounting Context

If accounting contexts are defined in your NetSuite account, you can select any of them in the Accounting Context field under Localization, from Home > Set Preferences. Then, the Japan financial statements, the Balance Sheet, Income Statement, and Trial Balance, can reference and apply the selected accounting context when generating reports.

An accounting context is useful in associating your accounts to a country’s local GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) reporting requirements, which in this case is Japan. If an accounting context is defined, the Localization subtab on an account record enables you to enter different account names, languages, and numbers for a single account. These are then referenced by the Japan financial statements and applied in generating reports.

Consult your administrator if accounting contexts exist in your account, or request to create them if you consider them useful in working with Japanese accounts and reporting.
