Use Accounting Contexts in Account Saved Searches
If you've set up accounting contexts, you can use the following five columns in account saved searches, and any saved search where the Account field (Account Fields list) is joined:
-
Accounting Context
-
Language
-
Localized Name
-
Localized Number
-
Localized Legal Name
It is important to note that these five columns show values for all combinations of accounting context and language. This includes localized name and localized number combinations that are the same for different accounting context and language combinations. Therefore, if the Multi-Language feature is enabled, it's best to always specify both accounting context and language in your search criteria to avoid duplicate results.
Example
You have the following accounting contexts and languages set up:
-
Accounting Contexts: Czechia, Germany, and None (None represents the header account name and number.)
-
Languages: Czech, German, and the system language (The system language is the same as None, meaning the header account name.)
A user with permission to modify the 1110 Advances Paid account record defines the following rules on the Localization subtab:
-
Header Account Name and Number: 1110 Advances Paid
-
Legal Name: Legal Name for Advances Paid account
-
Accounting Context: Czechia, Number: 314, Name: Zalohy
-
Language: German, Name: German Name
The following table displays examples of searchable data combinations based on the rules for this account:

Search Criteria 1
Search criteria is Number = 1110 and you want to retrieve Localized Number and Localized Name. This saved search returns several lines, some of them duplicated, because the Accounting Context and Language were not specified.
Search Criteria 2
Search criteria is Accounting Context is Czechia, Language is null, and Localized Number = 314. You want to retrieve Localized Name and Localized Number. This saved search returns one line with Localized Name and Localized Number because the Accounting Context and Language is clearly specified.
Users can create saved searches that don't depend on User Preferences. For example, if you search for Name is Advances Paid, the search returns the Advances Paid account if your user preferences are Language is English and Accounting Context is null. If your Accounting Context is Czechia, you won't get any results because the account Name is Zalohy.
But if you create a saved search with criteria of Accounting Context is null, Language is null, and Localized Name is Advances Paid, you'll get the Advances Paid account even if your Accounting Context is Czechia. This is helpful when you want to create a saved search that works for all accountants in local subsidiaries, no matter their localization.
