Backing Up, Restoring, and Replicating Applications Using the Migration Features

Profitability and Cost Management offers flexible lifecycle management features to help with a number of maintenance and migration tasks:.

  • Backing up to create a snapshot for cloning an environment, for example, to migrate an application from test to production.

  • Exporting to create an incremental backup of specific artifacts in an environment.

  • Uploading archive files in ZIP format containing a variety of data, metadata, artifact definitions, and more.

  • Downloading snapshots for artifact maintenance and backups.

  • Deleting and renaming snapshots and archives.

  • Setting import options.

  • Importing artifacts and the application from a snapsot.

You can import exported files or backup snapshots for restoration or migration purposes.

  • To access migration features within Profitability and Cost Management, on the Home page, click Application, Application icon, and then Migration, Migration icon.

  • To clone a snapshot, on the Home page, click Application, Application icon, and then Clone Snapshot, Clone Shapshot button. (See Cloning Snapshots in Administering Migration for Oracle Enterprise Performance Management Cloud).

Also see Exporting Template Files and Loading Data into Essbase.

Note:

You can import an entire snapshot into an empty Profitability and Cost Management service where no application currently exists. In general, artifacts in a Profitability and Cost Management application snapshot can be imported individually/separately into an existing application. The exception to this is the Dimensions artifact. Dimension metadata cannot be re-imported into an existing application using an Application Snapshot. Use the Update Dimension job of the EPM Automate loaddimdata command to update the dimension's metadata in an existing application.

To migrate an application from on-premise Oracle Hyperion Profitability and Cost Management, see Migrating an Application from On-premises Profitability and Cost Management to EPM Cloud Profitability and Cost Management.
