Migrating from Profitability and Cost Management to Enterprise Profitability and Cost Management

Enterprise Profitability and Cost Management includes improved versions of all the great modeling and allocation capabilities available in Profitability and Cost Management and integrates them with Oracle EPM Cloud Platform features like data forms, dashboards, reports, Data Exchange, Oracle Smart View for Office dimension management, and more.

If you have an existing Profitability and Cost Management application, you can migrate it to Enterprise Profitability and Cost Management. However, because the basic requirements are different between the two, in-place migration is not possible. You can download a migration template that you customize for your existing application, which you then use to generate an application snapshot and data extracts that are compatible with Enterprise Profitability and Cost Management. You can then either manually upload the snapshot and data to an Enterprise Profitability and Cost Management instance, or allow the system to automatically complete the migration.

To migrate an application from Profitability and Cost Management to Enterprise Profitability and Cost Management:

1. From the Home page in Profitability and Cost Management, select Application, and then Migrate to EPCM.

2. On the Migrate to EPCM page, click Generate Template.

   See Customizing the Migration Template for Your Application for information on how to customize the migration template for your application.

3. Click Validate to view the migration status and validate the information in the migration template.

4. On the Migration Status page, click Preview and Validate Report.

5. After you have validated your migration template, select one of the following options:

   • Generate Snapshot: Generates an application snapshot and data extract. These files are saved to your application outbox. You can then download them to your file system and upload them to an Enterprise Profitability and Cost Management instance later.

   • Migrate to EPCM: Connects directly to an Enterprise Profitability and Cost Management instance. After generating the application snapshot and data extract, the process continues and uploads the application and data to your specified instance. If you choose not to download your application snapshot and data export to manually upload to Enterprise Profitability and Cost Management, this step will do it for you.

6. Open Enterprise Profitability and Cost Management and validate your migration results.
