Create a Child Object for Financial Projects

Create a child object to track data for a standard object that's not already delivered with your cloud service. For financial projects, you can create a child object that will appear as a new tab on the Manage Financial Project Settings page.

Create fields within the new tab to capture your project information.

Here are the steps that describes how to create a child object.

  1. Enter in an active sandbox.

  2. Navigate to Tools > Configuration > Application Composer.

  3. From the Application drop down, select ERP and SCM Cloud.

  4. Expand Standard Objects menu and click Project.

  5. On the Project Overview page, in the Child Objects section, click Create Child Object.

  6. In the Create Child Object window, enter the mandatory object details. After you enter value for Display Label, other values are automatically populated.

  7. Click OK. Once your child object is created, you can see it under the Project standard object.

  8. Expand the child object and click the Fields link. Create the fields that you want to add to the child object. The fields you create appear on the Fields page.

  9. Expand the child object and click the Pages link.

  10. On the Child Object: Pages page, click Create Default Pages. Application creates the Creation Page and Details Page layouts for you.

  11. In the Creation Page Layouts section, click the Duplicate Layout icon.

  12. In the Duplicate Layout window, enter the layout name and click Save and Close. Similarly, create a duplicate layout for Details Page Layouts.

  13. In the Creation Page Layouts section, click the duplicate layout link you just created.

  14. On the Duplicate Creation Layout page, click the Edit icon next to the child object name.

  15. In the Configure Detail Form section, select the fields you created from the Available Fields box and move to the Selected Fields box.

  16. Click Save and Close.

  17. Click Done. Similarly, in the Details Page Layouts section, add the fields you created to the Duplicate Details Layout page.

Follow the steps to add the child object to the standard Project object.

  1. Click the Pages link under the Project standard object.

  2. In the Details Page Layouts section, create a duplicate layout.

  3. Click the duplicate layout link.

  4. On the Duplicate Details Layout page, you can view all the predefined tabs on the Manage Financial Project Settings page. Click the Add icon at the bottom to create a new tab.

  5. On the Duplicate Details Layout: Create Subtab page, select the Child object option and click Next.

  6. In the Data Object drop down, select the child object you created.

  7. In the Configure Summary table section, select the fields you created within the child object from the Available Fields box and move to the Selected Fields box.

  8. Click Save and Close. You can now view the child object as a new tab on the Duplicate Details Layout page.

  9. Click the Edit icon next to the child object name in the new tab.

  10. On the Subtab page, in the Basic Information section, select the Enable Separate Create Pages and Enable Separate Edit Pages option.

  11. Click Save and Close.

  12. Click Done.

Navigate to the Project Financial Management work area. Create a new project or open an existing project. Open the Manage Financial Project Settings page for the project. You can view the custom child object as a new tab.
