Set Up Programs

Setting up Program Management involves the following tasks, each of which you can access from the Setup and Maintenance work area:.

  • Manage program options: Set up program options, including the program calendar, calendar mapping method, and currency conversion settings.
  • Manage performance measures: Set up performance measure names, disable measures that your organizations doesn't plan to use, and change the default set of measures that appear in the Analysis page.
  • Manage conversion rates: Define conversion rates between the project currency and program currency
  • Update program performance data: Sets up the default values required to create and manage programs if the initial set up isn't done in the Manage Program Options task.
  • Manage program lookup values: Review and update the list of values that describe the program.
Note: If you make any updates to the performance measures after setting up the program options, you should run the Update Program Performance Data process to initialize your work area.

Adding the Review Project Performance (PJS_REVIEW_PROJECT_PERFORMANCE_PRIV) Privilege to the Program Manager Role

To add the Review Project Performance (PJS_REVIEW_PROJECT_PERFORMANCE_PRIV) privilege to the Program Manager role:

  1. Navigate to Tools > Security Console.
  2. Search for the Program Manager role (ORA_PJF_PROGRAM_MANAGER_JOB).
  3. Click the Actions icon below the description of the role and select Copy Role.
  4. Select Copy top role and inherited roles in the Copy Options modal that appears, and click Copy Role. The application now creates a new role, duplicating the existing Program Manager role, and the Basic Information page appears.
  5. Provide a Role Name and Role Code for the new role, and update the Description as appropriate.
  6. Click Next.
  7. In the Functional Security Policies page that appears, click Add Function Security Policy to display the Add Function Security Policy modal.
  8. Search and add the Review Project Performance (PJS_REVIEW_PROJECT_PERFORMANCE_PRIV) functional security policy to the new cole you created and click Add Privilege to Role. Click Cancel after adding the role to close the modal.
  9. Click Next.
  10. In the Data Security Policies page that appears, click Create Data Security Policy. The Create Data Security Policy modal appears.
  11. Enter a Policy Name for the new data security policy.
  12. Click the Search icon adjacent to the Data Resource field and search for and select PJF_PROJECTS_ALL_VL.
  13. Click OK.
  14. In the Data Set field, select Select by instance set.
  15. In the Condition Name field, select Access the projects for table PJF_PROJECTS_ALL_VL for the projects that are part of the program hierarchy.
  16. In the Actions field, select Review Project Performance and click OK.
  17. Click Next. The Role Hierarchy page appears. Use this page to add or remove child roles associated with the new custom role that you created.
  18. Click Next. The Users page appears.
  19. Use the Add Users button to assign this new role to users as required.
  20. Click Next.
  21. Use the Summary page that appears to review the changes you made. You should have added one functional security policy and one data security policy. Once you are satisfied with your updates, click Submit and Close.
The custom role is now created. Assign this role to users to enable them to drill down directly from the Analysis page to the Review Project Performancepage.
