Manage Shipping Document Job Set Rules Using a Redwood Page

In this demo, I'm going to walk you through how to create a shipping document job set rule. Shipping document job set rule is a business rule that helps determine which document job set should be used to print shipping documents when confirming a shipment. The new rule, start by clicking the Create button.

This opens a drawer where you'll need to enter a rule name and a short description. Now, let's set up the conditions that define when this rule should apply.

This highlighted section is referred to as a group where you define the eligibility criteria for the shipment being assessed. Let's say you want this rule to apply to shipments leaving from Seattle Manufacturing organization and shipping to anywhere in the United States. To set this up, choose Ship from Organization as the attribute. Select Seattle Manufacturing as the value.

Then click add conditions. Then choose customer country as the attribute.

Select United States as the value.

Now, notice the operator here. If you set it to All, both conditions must be met for the rule to apply. But if you choose any, the rule will apply if either condition is met. I chose All. Now this rule applies to all shipments from Seattle Manufacturing and shipping to anywhere in the United States.

You can have more than one group where you specify the eligibility criteria. For example, you want to use the same rule for shipments from Boston Manufacturing organization and shipping to Canada. To do that, click Add Group.

This opens another group where you can define another eligibility condition.

Now, this group applies to all shipments from Boston Manufacturing and shipping to Canada. The highlighted component is the rule level operator. This decides how the groups work together. All means shipments must meet conditions from both groups. Any means if a shipment matches just one of the groups, then it qualifies.

I chose Any. Now this rule applies to all shipments from Seattle Manufacturing and shipping to United States or it applies to shipment from Boston Manufacturing and shipping to Canada. Now, let's take this a step further. What if you want to use this rule for shipments from Boston to both Canada and Mexico? Instead of creating another group, you can create a subgroup inside the Boston group. To do that, click Add Subgroup. This opened the subgroup section within the group, add customer country and select Canada.

Then add another condition and select Customer Country as attribute and Mexico as value.

Set the operator at the subgroup level to Any so shipments to either country qualify.

Now this group applies to all shipments from Boston Manufacturing and shipping to either Canada or Mexico. Once everything is set up, click Save.

Now the next step is to add the document job to use when the shipment qualifies for this rule. To do that, click Add on the Document Job Set column. A drawer opens where you can select the shipping document job set. Once you select the document job set, click Done to complete the setup.

This concludes the demonstration. Thank you for watching.
