Enable Redwood Experience for Benefits Self-Service Enrollment
The Self-Service Benefits Enrollment page was recreated in the Redwood Toolset Visual Builder Studio to improve the user experience by providing the same consistent functionality across Redwood pages. The FSA and HSA calculators, plan comparison, primary care physician designation, management of pending actions, survey, and so on are now part of the self-service enrollment flow.
Here’s how you use this page:
- On the Home page, click Me, Benefits.
- Click Enroll Now.
- Complete the tasks that are available for you. Click Continue to navigate.
- Click Done after completing the tasks.
Self-Service Benefits Enrollment Page
Participants can now choose from one of these enrollment paths:
- Express: This is an expedited path for enrollment, and it enables participants to quickly review what they're currently enrolled in and submit as is or make changes.
- Discovery: This is a detailed path for enrollment, and it enables participants to thoroughly analyze all the available benefits and select the ones they need for enrollment.

Steps to Enable
These are the main tasks to enable this feature:
- Set up the lookup for enabling the plan comparison feature within enrollment flow.
- Enable the Self-Service Benefits Enrollment Redwood page
Set Up the Lookup
If you haven't set up the Plan Comparison feature, see Overview of Benefit Plan Comparison to set up the feature. If you’ve already set up the Plan Comparison feature, see Run Benefits Plan Compare Diagnostic Test to get the template ID (TemplateId). You use the template ID while configuring the lookup.
- In the Setup and Maintenance work area, search for the Manage Common Lookups task.
- Click Manage Common Lookups.
- Search for the BEN_COMPARE_PLAN_ELECTION lookup.
- Click New and enter these values:
- Enter the template ID as the Lookup Code.
- Set the start and end dates.
- Set Enabled as Y.
- Enter the name of the plan type grouping as the Meaning.
- Save your changes.
Enable the Redwood Page
Here’s how you enable the Self-Service Benefits Enrollment Redwood page:
- Navigate to the Setup and Maintenance work area.
- Search for and click the Manage Administrator Profile Values task.
- Search for and select the ORA_HCM_VBCS_PWA_ENABLED profile option and enable Site level access.
- Click Save.
- Search for and select the ORA_BEN_SELF_SERVICE_ENROLLMENT_REDWOOD_ENABLED profile and enable Site level access.
- Click Save and Close.
Here's how you add the HSA, FSA, and Dependent Care FSA calculators to the Redwood self-service enrollment flow:
1. Navigate to Benefits Administration >Plan Configuration.
2. Open the plan page and navigate to the Additional Configuration step.
3. Select the type of the calculator and save your changes.
Access Requirements
Required Privileges, Duty Roles, and Data Security Policies (DSP)
- If you have custom roles, ensure that the respective privileges and aggregate privileges of the functional modules are part of your role hierarchy.
- After adding the privileges and aggregate privileges, regenerate the data role and verify the user interfaces.
- If you have direct job roles assigned to users, you need to create data role out of the job role for the data security to work.

- Human Capital Management Application Administrator (To enable the required profile options.)
- Employee
Consolidated Security Details:
You need to ensure that these privileges and roles are part of the custom role hierarchy for the Benefits Service center and self-service benefits to work properly.
