Retake a Completed Course

You can now retake a course or self-paced content you previously completed without needing a learning administrator to reassign the learning to you. And your transcript will include the new completion. We also simplified the experience for when you completed an instructor-led course offering and want to take that course again through another offering.

The Take Again action for a course or self-paced learning that you completed appears on these pages:

• Enrollment details page
• Hover card
• Catalog details page for courses, offerings, and self-paced learning

If a course has a single self-paced offering, your retake experience is identical to enrolling in the course for the first time. Clicking Take Again enrolls you in the course and offering again. New assignments are created for the course and offering, and offering activities are set to the Not Started status.

If a course has multiple offerings, clicking Take Again takes you to the self-enrollment page showing a list of all available offerings, including the ones you already completed for this course. There, you can enroll in the relevant offering:

• For a completed self-paced offering, you will have the option to re-enroll if you wish to retake it.

• Instructor-led and blended offerings that you have already completed won't display the option to re-enroll because those sessions already occurred. But, you can enroll in other upcoming instructor-led offerings.

Learner Can Enroll in an Available Offering

This enhancement lets learners revisit material at their own pace and convenience, fostering a more flexible and personalized learning experience.

Steps to Enable

Set the Site level value for ORA_WLF_ALLOW_RETAKE_REDWOOD_PAGES_ENABLED profile option to either of these 3 options:

• Yes - Passed or Failed completion:  Lets learners retake the course offering even if they didn't successfully meet the passing criteria and exhausted all their attempts the first time.  Applies to completions in Completed, Bypass Completed, or Not Passed statuses.
• Yes - Only Passed completion: Lets learners retake the course offering only if they previously successfully met the passing criteria. Applies to completions in Completed or Bypass Completed status.
• No (default):  Doesn't let learners retake a course offering they previously completed. A manager or learning administrator needs to reassign the learning to the learner. This is equivalent to existing behavior prior to this release.

Tips And Considerations

Learners won't see the Take Again action on a specialization enrollment details page. The see the action only on the course and self-paced learning enrollment page.
