Search Engine Optimization Enhancements
There is a new Page Name Display for URL field for custom pages that you can use to make your pages SEO-friendly, and to help users and search engines understand what a page is about.
New Page Display Name for URL Field for Custom Pages
If you add keywords in the field, the URL is appended with that instead of a page number ID. For example, instead of a URL ending in 11605, it will display to users and search engines with something more friendly like "company-benefits."
Page URL Changes
In addition, the following page URLs have also been updated to make them more SEO-friendly:
- Search results page URLs - replaced the word "requisitions" with "jobs"
- Talent community page URL - replaced "tc-join" with "join-talent-community"
If these URLs are either bookmarked or used as external links those would be redirected to the new URLs. However, it's recommended to update them with the new URL.
These enhancements improve the ability for Googlebot to discover career site pages and search ranking.
Steps to Enable
You’ll need to create or edit existing custom page to add the page display name for URL.
- In the Setup and Maintenance work area, go to:
- Offering: Recruiting and Candidate Experience
- Functional Area: Candidate Experience
- Task: Career Sites Configuration
- Pick a career site and click the gear icon.
- Click Edit In the action menu.
- Click the Pages tab.
- Click the + icon and select Custom Page page type to create a new custom page. Alternatively, you can select an existing custom page and click Edit.
- Click the gear icon and select Page Options.
- Scroll to the SEO Optimization section.
- Enter the keywords for the page in the Page Name Display for URL.
- Click Save.
- Publish the page and publish the site.
The Page URL now includes the keyword from page name display for URL instead of an ID with numbers.
Tips And Considerations
- If you've added or edited a page display name for URL for a custom page, make sure to update any external links that are using this page URL.
- Old page URLs with PageID will still work, and they'll redirect the user to the new URL. However, if a page name display for URL field is edited multiple times, the URLs with old keywords may stop working.
