Redwood Time Card Enhancements

Improve your experience on the Redwood time card by providing more information related to approval comments, removing duplicated public holiday entries, reorganizing actions, and completing the display of errors.

View approval and rejection comments

You can now view from the Redwood time card the approval or rejection comments provided by the approving manager. Use the new View Approval History action to open a dedicated drawer that shows all details related to the approval flow. This action is available as soon as the time card is submitted for approval. Also, the action is available whether the time card is opened in read-only or edit mode. In case of rejected time card, a warning banner displays on the time card and you can click the View details hyperlink to open the approval history drawer.

Both worker and manager can use the drawer to review this information:

  • Who submitted the time card for approval, and when (date and time)
  • Who still needs to review and approve or reject the time card
  • Who approved or rejected the time card, when (date and time), and any related comments

The drawer will have 1 or 2 sections that show the approval flows for each consumer--only Payroll, only Project Costing, or both.
Also if the time card has multiple approvers, the drawer shows details for each approval.

Removal of duplicate public holidays

We now avoid duplicate public holiday entries on the time card. In case of multiple assignments, we default the public holiday entry related to the primary assignment if there is a schedule overlap. For example, a worker has a primary assignment schedule of Monday through Friday from 8:00a - 4:00p, and a secondary assignment schedule for the same days from 2:00p - 8:00p, and there is a public holiday defined on Monday. The public holiday Monday entry defaulted on the time card is from 8:00a to 4:00p.

Actions display

  • The View Time Totals and View Calculated Time actions were promoted to primary actions.
  • The Template button is now a button menu with these secondary actions:
    • Save as Template
    • Apply
    • Manage
  • The More Actions icon (...) now has these options:
    • Review Attestations
    • Request Change (workers only)
    • Generate Entries Using Schedule (workers only)
    • View Change History
    • View Approval Comments
    • View Absence Plan Balances
  • The Print action now appears as an icon on the toolbar.

Exceptions display enhancements

Whether opening, saving, or submitting a Redwood time card with errors, here's what you should see:

  • All errors appear in a page-level error banner as a bulleted list. The list includes the errors at the time card level, at the day level (starting with the related day) and at the entry level (starting with the related day and row number);
  • The grid quantity field for the entry having an error also includes a red triangle in the upper-right corner. If there are several errors for the same entry, they all show in the error banner and also on the dialog box opened by clicking the quantity cell with the red triangle icon.

Here's a summary of how exceptions appear:

Approval and reject actions on the calculated time view

When the time card is submitted for approval and the person is an approver, they have the Approve and Reject actions available on the reported time view. The same actions are now also on the calculated time view.

These enhancements provide a better experience on the Redwood time card, still providing more useful info to the user for their completion.

Steps to Enable

While you don't need to enable any of these enhancements, you do need to default public holidays on time cards before the holidays automatically appear for just the primary assignment.
