Enhanced Validation for Public and Private Redwood Time Card Templates

Validation for public and private Redwood time card templates was enhanced to more closely match Copy Previous Time Card functionality. Here's how the enhanced validation works:

  1. When a worker applies a private template, both primary and nonprimary assignments use the most recent assignment info.
  2. Templates check all relevant details, just as if the worker entered them by hand.
  3. If any entries are invalid—whether from a public or private template—they're cleared from the time card. This action could clear entire rows if they contain only invalid entries.

Working with Templates and Multiple Assignments

Workers can create private templates with information for multiple assignments. When applying a private template, the time card updates assignments and validates all assignment-related details for that specific pay period or date range. For example, Sammy uses his private template called Dept200 and Dept300 week and it includes time entries across two assignments.

  • The private template applies entries from both assignments if they’re valid. It clears any invalid entries.
  • When using a public template with similar data, all time is assigned to Sammy’s primary job, and the values are checked against that job’s details.

Tips And Considerations

When you use a public template, it’s a good idea to check your time card values before submitting. Enhanced validation will catch most errors, but it’s always best to confirm the entries match the work you actually completed.

If a public template includes time for multiple assignments, all those entries are updated to and validated against the worker's primary assignment.
