Redwood: Enhancement for Goal Assignment to Indirect Reports

From this release, when you assign goals to a weight-enabled goal plan, the weight entered for the goal is added to the goal that’s assigned to indirect reports also. Until now, weights were added only for goals assigned to direct reports.

The goal with weight will be assigned even if the goal plan enforces that the sum of weights be 100 percent and the goal assignment causes the sum to exceed 100 percent. The employees who are assigned the goal need to edit the weights in their Goals Center.

The goal plan selected for assigning the goal for an indirect report is based on these rules:

  • If the indirect report has been assigned the goal plan initially selected by the manager for the goal assignment, then that goal plan is selected.
  • If the indirect report isn’t assigned the goal plan initially selected by the manager but has other goal plans assigned in that review period, then the most recent goal plan that’s assigned to the indirect report is selected.
  • If the indirect report doesn’t have any goal plan assigned in the selected review period, then the goal won’t be assigned.

This feature ensures that the goal assignment is uniform for both direct and indirect reports.
