Redwood Earnings and Deductions Page
The Redwood Earnings and Deductions page provides administrators with a single location to manage all employee earnings and deductions.
Use this page to quickly review all earnings and deductions for an employee for a specific date range, however, the date range can be a single date. The summary view displays essential details for each earning and deduction, making it easy to identify individual records.
-
For example, an overtime record may show hours worked, while a garnishment can display its court order reference.
-
You can also export the summary table for further analysis or record-keeping.
Manage Record Details
Click on an earnings or deduction name to view detailed information about the record:
- Values: Manage the values required to calculate the earning or deduction for the employee. The values page displays:
-
Input value details for records managed using standard entries such as salary.
-
Value definitions and flex-field details for records managed using calculation components such as court orders.
-
Note: The Values page in the drawer supports the actions required to manage the record. However, in this initial release, only the Edit action is available in the drawer for standard entries. All actions for standard entries remain accessible from the summary table.
-
Element Attributes: View details for the selected earning or deduction, including the primary and secondary classification and element category. For records managed with calculation components, the associated element name is displayed; note that it may differ from the calculation component name shown for the earning or deduction.
-
Costing: Add costing details for individual records as needed. Note: While each absence entitlement day is listed separately, costing overrides are applied to the entire absence period. For example, although there are separate records for absences on 17th March and 18th March, a costing override affects both days within the absence period.
-
Processing History: View the processes that included each earning and deduction, such as the Payroll Calculation, QuickPay, Retropay, Balance Adjustment and Balance Initialization flows. To help resolve queries, select a flow name to navigate to the statement of earnings, where you can review all results generated by the process for the employee.
The summary table also displays a country-specific record for the employee’s tax and social security card. Click the card name to navigate directly to the Redwood pages, which are tailored to your localization and enable effective management of the employee’s tax and social insurance details.
Create Earnings and Deductions
Use the Add button to create an earning or deduction for an employee. When creating a record, follow these guidelines:
-
Select a start date, this defaults to the session date. The selected date is carried forward to the Earnings and Deductions page upon submission.
-
Select the name of the earning or deduction, which can be an element or a calculation component. If you select a calculation component, a card is automatically assigned, or you can select an existing calculation card as needed.
-
Enter values required to calculate the earning or deduction amount. Input values are used for records managed with standard entries; value definitions and flex-field details are used for records managed with calculation components.
-
Enter costing override details, if applicable.
You can also add a country-specific tax and social security card for an employee on the Earnings and Deductions page; however, these cards are typically created automatically when the employee is hired.
QuickPay Submission
Initiate a QuickPay directly from the Earnings and Deductions page. The Redwood QuickPay process integrates with the summary table, allowing you to include or exclude specific records while maintaining a consistent user experience.

Security
Use this new aggregate privilege to provide view-only access to calculation components and calculation cards from the Earnings and Deductions page.
- View Payroll Calculation Cards (ORA_PAY_VIEW_PAYROLL_CALCULATION_CARDS)
The view-only access is provided by default to the Payroll Administrator role, and you can also assign it to other predefined roles.
Note: In the current release, 26B, not all calculation cards support this view-only access. If a calculation card doesn't support this access, you won't be able to view the Redwood calculation card page and access is denied for the page.
The Redwood Earnings and Deductions page helps administrators to manage all types of employee earnings and deductions efficiently from a single, centralized location. The streamlined, intuitive interface consolidates information so that administrators can quickly identify, analyze, and resolve payroll issues to ensure accurate and timely payments.
