Preserve Salary Data for Changes in When Date

When managers, HR specialists, or approvers change a transaction’s effective date, supported salary entries remain available if they’re valid on the revised date.

This behavior applies to these Redwood flows:

  • Change Salary
  • Promote
  • Change Assignment
  • Change Location
  • Local Transfer
  • Global Transfer
  • Add Assignment
  • Create Work Relationship
  • Convert Pending Worker

The feature supports simple, component-based, and rate-based salaries. A message prompts users to review transaction data after changing the effective date. Users can then open the Salary section to review retained values or values recalculated using grade rates or value-by-criteria rates effective on the revised date.

Supported salary changes are also retained when an approver changes the transaction date using Edit the Transaction.

Reduce duplicate data entry and improve salary transaction accuracy when initiators or approvers correct a transaction’s effective date.

Steps to enable and configure

  1. Go to Setup and Maintenance and open the Manage Administrator Profile Values task.
  2. Search for the ORA_PER_EMP_RETAIN_CHANGES profile option.
  3. Set the Profile Value to Y.
  4. Click Save and Close.

The default profile value is N.

Tips and considerations

  • Only salary values valid on the revised effective date are retained.
  • After changing the effective date, revisit the Salary section to copy your previous salary changes to the revised date. If you don’t revisit the section, your changes are lost.
  • Salary changes aren’t retained if the salary basis changes.
  • If the revised date is before the previous assignment record or after a future assignment record, the entered changes reset.
  • Effective-dated grade-rate, differential profile or rate definition changes can cause salary values to recalculate different values as on the revised date.
