Payroll Run Analyst AI Agent Enhanced to Support the Tax Calculation Statement (Federal Income Tax)

We have enhanced the Payroll Run Analyst agent to support the Tax Calculation Statement. Your payroll administrators can now ask natural-language questions about an employee's payroll tax deductions for a selected payroll run and get clear, context-aware answers. The AI agent supports conversational access to tax-calculation data in the Person Results UI for the US, such as:

  • What taxes were calculated?
  • How was a specific tax calculated?
  • Questions about the various components used in the tax calculation

The agent provides:

  • Either summary or detailed responses and keeps the reported values consistent with the underlying payroll calculation data
  • Real-time tax explanations in plain language, such as the attributes used in tax calculations, formulas, and calculation steps
  • Contextual guidance about tax terminology, rates, thresholds, and applied tax rules within the page context

This feature helps payroll administrators resolve tax-related questions faster by providing plain-language, context-aware explanations from tax-calculation data, which reduces manual navigation and interpretation effort.

Steps to enable and configure

You need to configure the Agent Guided Journey to extend the Person Results page. For details, see these topics in the guide, How do I set up AI Agents for Redwood pages?

Note: The name of the agent is Payroll Run Analyst.

Tips and considerations

  • The Payroll Run Analyst agent was enhanced to support the Tax Calculation Statement functionality. It is owned and maintained by Global Payroll. A new business object function was added to the Global Payroll agent. When referring to the agent, we are referring to the Payroll Run Analyst.
  • When you create a prompt to retrieve tax deduction details, include the Tax Calculation Statement keywords to help the system locate the correct source info.

For example: Retrieve the Tax Calculation Statement and give me the tax details and calculation results for the tax type Federal Income Tax.

Prompts that don’t include these keywords may not return the expected tax deduction details or calculation results.

  • Currently, the expanded list of calculation components and steps is available only for Federal Income Tax. You can ask questions about other tax types, but the responses won’t include the expanded calculation details. Support for expanded calculation components and steps for additional tax types is planned for future releases.
