Default the Hiring Manager on Position-Based Requisitions
When recruiters create a job requisition using a position, the Hiring Manager field can default to the position manager or an incumbent of the parent position. Recruiters can review and update the initial value before completing the requisition.
Recruiters can use this feature to:
- Configure whether the hiring manager field is defaulted from position or not, and if it is defaulted from position, if default value must be set to the position manager or an incumbent of the parent position.
- Select the appropriate hiring manager when multiple incumbents exist on the parent position.
- Apply hiring manager defaulting in this order (if a value is defaulted from a higher item in the order, the remaining items are ignored):
- A Visual Builder Studio business rule.
- Position-based defaulting, based on the profile option configuration.
- The hiring manager defined in the requisition template.
- The current user.
- Update the initially defaulted Hiring Manager value as needed.
Try it out
- Create a job requisition and select Position in the How to start section.
- Review the defaulted value in the Hiring Manager field in the Hiring team section.
- If multiple incumbents exist on the parent position, select the appropriate hiring manager from the list. Update the value as needed.
Business benefit: Reduce manual effort when creating position-based requisitions by automatically populating the hiring manager from position information while allowing recruiters to update the value when needed.
Steps to enable and configure
- Go to Setup and Maintenance > Search > Manage Administrator Profile Values.
- Configure the Default Hiring Manager on Job Requisition (ORA_IRC_DEFAULT_HM_ON_JOB_REQ) profile option.
- Select one of these values:
- None (default): Don't use position-based hiring manager defaulting.
- Position Manager: Default the Hiring Manager from the position manager.
- Parent Position Incumbent: Default the Hiring Manager from an incumbent of the parent position.
Tips and considerations
- This enhancement applies only when creating a requisition using a position. It doesn't affect requisitions created from a job, requisition template, existing requisition, or blank requisition.
- This enhancement also applies when requesting a new position, requesting a position change, and updating, correcting, duplicating a position.
