Award Reason Code Enhancements For Spot Bid Tendering

This feature provides you with several configuration options for the Award Reason Code field that's available on the Award Bids and View All Spot Bids screens. The Award Reason Code can now be a required field in the event that the planner selects and awards a bid to a service provider other than the lowest bid service provider.

New capabilities provided include:

The ability to tag the Quick Codes you would like to have shown when the planners selects an Award Reason Code. Previously all Quick Codes were shown.

Provide configuration capabilities for the Award Reason Code Field.

Provide configuration capabilities for the message/alert provided when the Award Reason Code is required e.g., when the awarded bid is not the lowest.

Configure Quick Codes to Select for Award Reason Codes

This feature allows you to tag the Quick Codes displayed to the planner for the Award Reason Codes when the planner awards a Spot Bid Tender to a service provider other than the lowest bid service provider. To configure a Quick Code to show in the list of Award Reason Codes, on the Quick Code screen you should select the Enable for Action Reason checkbox to have the Quick Code displayed. In the example below, the MY_AWARD_REASON_CODE Quick Code will be provided as an option for the planner to select since the Enable for Action Reason checkbox is selected.

The Enable for Action Reason option is available in both the Finder and the Finder Results for the Quick Codes.

In the example below, there are currently three bids for a shipment, the planner has selected the bid for a service provider that is not the lowest bid.

When the planner selects a bid that is not the lowest bid, the following message is displayed and the Award Reason Code is displayed.

Once the planner selects a bid that is not the lowest, the Award Reason Code field is displayed as shown below.

In this setup with - glog.tender.spotBid.enableValidationForLowestBid set true, the planner is required to provide an Award Reason Code to successfully award the bid to a service provider other than the lowest bid service provider.

In this example, only one Quick Code has been setup for the Award Reason Code usage (e.g., the Enable for Action Reason flag selected) the configured code is the one shown below - the MY_AWARD_REASON_CODE.

When the MY_AWARD_REASON_CODE Award Reason Code is provided - the planner is able successfully submit the Award Bid To the higher cost service provider.

Configuration for the Award Reason Code Field

The Award Reason Code field has been enhanced to support Manager Layout configuration. You can change the label, make the field a fixed list, remove the View or New button etc. In the example below, the Award Reason Code fields label has been changed and the option to Add a new Quick Code has been removed.

Configure Alert Message

To configure the alert message you will need to perform the steps below.

Login as DBA.
Navigate to the Label Manager. Configuration and Administration > User Configuration > Label Manager.
Search the Key = alertmessage.SelectLowestBidFooterMsg

Search for Key = alertmessage.SelectLowestBidFooterMsg

Then, when the alert is raised the new modified label will be shown.

Business Benefit

Improves the usability and understanding of the Award Reason Code in scenarios where the planner selects a bid that is not the lowest bid.

Steps to Enable

Note that the required Award Reason Code scenario assumes that the property - glog.tender.spotBid.enableValidationForLowestBid - has been set to true. Setting this property to true will validate the lowest bid amount when running the action Award Bid and awarding a bid via View All Bid Options. If the planner awards the shipment to any service provider other than the lowest bid service provider, the system will prompt the planner to enter an Award Reason Code to continue awarding the bid to the selected - higher cost - service provider.
