Copy Country of Origin Upon Entry to a Foreign Trade Zone
This feature enables you to copy the country of origin from an entry line to an inventory when goods enter a foreign trade zone. When goods are received into the zone, you can copy data—including country of origin, values, reference numbers, and flex fields—to the inventory. The existing data configuration for copying data from entry lines to an inventory has been enhanced to include country of origin.
Data Configuration
You can use a data configuration to specify which data to copy from the entry line to the inventory. Select the type "Entry Line to Inventory". For the "Line-Inventory" association, the Country of Origin is now available for selection.

Trade Incentive Program
Once you have set up your data configuration, assign it to your trade incentive program in the Declaration Data Configuration ID field. After it is defined on the trade incentive program, GTM will use the specified data configuration to determine the rules for copying data.

Perform Entry/Exit Recording Action
Once you have a declaration representing entry into a foreign trade zone, you can run the Perform Entry/Exit Recording action. When this action is executed, GTM copies data from the entry line to the inventory according to the specifications defined in the data configuration.
Business Benefit: Enhancing data configurations to include the country of origin when copying information from entry lines to inventory streamlines foreign trade zone processes and ensures data consistency. This improvement reduces manual data entry, minimizes errors, and helps maintain regulatory compliance—ultimately increasing operational efficiency and supporting accurate trade reporting.
Steps to enable and configure
- Create a data configuration with a type of "Entry Line to Inventory" with the details of the data you want to copy from the entry declaration/declaration line to the inventory.
- Assign the data configuration to the trade incentive program in the "Declaration Data Configuration ID" field.
Tips and considerations
If you want to revert an entry into a foreign trade zone at a future point in time, you can use the Revert Entry/Exit Recording action on the declaration. When you run the revert action, any data that was copied from the entry line to the inventory is removed.
