AI Agent: Assign Planner

The assignment agent for planning applications intelligently and efficiently matches planning and zoning applications to the most suitable planner. It does this by evaluating key details such as the specific type of application submitted, each planner’s current workload, and their availability according to their schedule.

Using information automatically retrieved from internal systems, the agent generates a set of assignment suggestions for each application. These recommendations are accompanied by clear, concise explanations outlining the benefits of selecting a particular planner, such as relevant expertise or optimal workload distribution.

Ultimately, a technician reviews these suggestions and the supporting rationale before finalizing the planner assignment, ensuring that each application is handled by the most qualified and available staff member.

Steps to Enable and Configure

There are various steps to enable the AI Agent in Permitting and Licensing. You will need to use Oracle AI Agent Studio. For information and implementation of agents in Oracle AI Agent Studio, see Oracle AI for Fusion Applications on the Oracle Help Center. 

You will need to first enable the AI functionality in Permitting and Licensing for Planning and Zoning. 

  1. Navigate to Setup and Maintenance for Offerings. 
  2. Select Offering: Planning and Zoning. 
  3. Select Change Feature Opt In. 
  4. Select the pencil icon in the Features column of the Planning and Zoning row.
  5. Select the Enable checkbox for "Enable AI Functionality for Planning and Zoning". 
  6. Select Done. 

Once you've enabled the AI functionality, you will need to copy the template of the delivered AI Agent "Assign Planner" in the AI Agent Studio. Complete the instructions found in Oracle AI for Fusion Applications: How do I use AI Agent Studio?, "Create AI Agent", Create AI Agents using Preconfigured Templates on the Oracle Help Center. 

Once you've copied your template, you will need to add the agent to the Planning Applications Overview page. 

  1. Navigate to the Planning Applications Overview page. 
  2. Click on the extensibility icon on the bottom of the page. 
  3. Set the showAgent=true. 
  4. Replace the AI Agent code with the new copied template from the AI Agent Studio.

Tips And Considerations

For agency staff to use AI Assignment Agent, the Functional Setup Manager option "Enable AI Functionality for Planning and Zoning" must be enabled.
