Adaptive Global Filter Control
Adaptive Global Filter Control introduces a powerful layer of configurability for Adaptive Search based visualizations within the Visualization Configuration Tool. Previously, when a Sales User applied a global filter such as Time Period, the system automatically mapped it to predefined time period attributes across all Adaptive Search visualizations. This meant that every chart responded to the same date attribute, regardless of whether the underlying data was better represented by Close Date, Created Date, Forecast Period, or any other date field on the object. The result was often a mismatch between what the user intended to analyze and what the dashboard actually displayed.
With this feature, Sales Admins can now configure exactly which Adaptive Search attribute a Time Period global filter should target for each visualization. This is done through the Visualization Configuration Tool, accessible via Application Composer, where administrators define the filter mapping at the time of creating or editing a visualization. Beyond Time Period, the feature also extends to other global filters including Team, Territory, and Product Group, allowing admins to selectively enable or disable the impact of each global filter on a per visualization basis.
The feature integrates seamlessly with the existing Adaptive Search visualization framework, supports prompted filters, and fully respects access controls and personalization settings already in place. In scenarios where a selected attribute is removed or becomes unavailable (for example, if a custom attribute is deleted after configuration), the system defaults gracefully to the primary object’s Close Date or the default attribute, ensuring that visualizations remain functional and data continues to flow without manual intervention.
This feature is ideal for organizations that manage multi scenario dashboards where different visualizations need to respond to different business contexts within the same view. It is particularly valuable for pipeline analysis, forecast reviews, and territory performance tracking where the time dimension and filter scope must vary across charts to produce meaningful insights.
Business benefits
- Faster, more confident decisions: Every chart shows the right context, so deal reviews and forecasts happen faster.
- Reduced dashboard sprawl: One dashboard serves multiple scenarios, cutting admin overhead significantly.
- Higher user adoption and satisfaction: Intuitive filters mean less workarounds, more selling, and stronger platform trust.
