Faster Asset Discovery for Consolidated and Serialized Assets with Adaptive Search
You can now enable Consolidated Assets and Serialized Assets in Adaptive Search to support Asset Based Ordering scenarios that use Install Base assets as the source of truth.
This helps sales, CPQ, and self-service users find the right customer assets for day-2 actions such as amend, renew, terminate, suspend, resume, or return. From a business standpoint, customers often sell products as a single quote or order line with quantity, while fulfillment and service teams may track those same products as individual serialized assets in Install Base. Consolidated asset search lets users view and act on assets in a business-friendly “as sold” grouping, while serialized asset search preserves the precision needed for service, warranty, entitlement, and asset lifecycle tracking.
By enabling these asset types in Adaptive Search, users get faster, more flexible filtering and grouping across Install Base asset data. They can search by meaningful business attributes such as account, item, order line, subscription, coverage, serial number, or related grouping attributes, reducing the need to inspect long lists of individual asset records. This improves search relevance, simplifies asset selection, and makes Asset Based Ordering more efficient for high-volume serialized and consolidated asset scenarios.
Consolidated Assets
Business users typically work with assets in their as-sold view rather than as individual asset records. Products sold as quantities, bundles, subscriptions, or coverages need to be presented as a single logical asset so sales and service teams can efficiently perform Day 2 operations such as renewals, amendments, terminations, and returns. Adaptive Search enables dynamic grouping of Install Base assets based on business attributes such as order line or subscription, creating meaningful consolidated views. Users can quickly locate and act on related assets together, reducing manual effort and improving productivity.
Serialized Assets
Serialized products are stored as individual asset records in Install Base for service tracking. However, sales and service users often need to work with the entire quantity sold rather than searching through each serial number individually. Adaptive Search provides high-performance filtering and flexible grouping for serialized assets, allowing users to view them as a logical group (for example, by order line or item) while retaining access to individual serial numbers when needed. This delivers faster asset discovery, simplifies Day 2 operations, and provides a more intuitive search experience without sacrificing asset traceability.
Steps to enable and configure
Steps to Implement
- Navigate to Setup and Maintenance.
- Open Configure Adaptive Search. Here you will be able to see 2 new objects namely Consolidated Assets and Serialized Assets.
- Verify that the required fields are enabled and configured with the appropriate properties. For more information, see the Oracle Adaptive Search documentation.
- Run a Full Publish or Partial Publish to make the objects available in Adaptive Search.
Once the Publish job is completed successfully, these objects will be available in Adaptive search and corresponding UIs can be used.
