Use Work Instruction Tasks to Complete a Work Order Operation at a Workstation

Factory workers require clear, detailed work instructions when new or complex processes must be followed to ensure high quality, safety, and compliance of products produced.

With this update, you can use the work instructions defined for a work order operation when executing production at a workstation.  The sequential tasks containing the work instructions are embedded in the execution flow and include text and images to help you complete a job without errors. You can refer to the work instruction tasks after starting operation execution.

Guided execution flows help improve operator confidence when executing production, reduce the time spent in looking through multiple sources for information, and ensure compliance with the predefined manufacturing process.

Steps to Enable

Use the Opt In UI to enable this feature. For instructions, refer to the Optional Uptake of New Features section of this document.

Offering: Manufacturing and Supply Chain Materials ManagementNo Longer Optional From: Update 25B

You must opt in the Author Work Instruction Tasks for a Work Definition Operation feature from this release to automatically enable this feature.

Tips And Considerations

  • You can access instruction tasks at a workstation only when the feature Author Work Instruction Tasks for a Work Definition Operation is enabled and an active set of instructions have been mapped to the operation being executed at the workstation.
  • This feature is available only when work execution is performed using the operator workbench.
  • The instructions are visible once you start a work order operation at a workstation. However, the completion of quantities does not require the usage of instruction tasks.
  • The instruction tasks are available to you for the entire duration of the operation execution cycle, and you can come back to the instruction tasks at any point during operation execution.
