Redwood: Enable Guided Journeys and Configure Pages Using Business Rules
Enable guided journeys for Redwood pages and use business rules to configure the appearance and behavior of fields or regions on a page.
Guided Journey
A guided journey helps maintenance users complete tasks by facilitating a business process. Administrators can create a guided journey to embed tutorials, company policies, and best practices at a page or section level. For example, a guided journey can be configured to:
- Display the Vehicle Maintenance Reporting Standards (VMRS) codes for mechanics in My Maintenance Work.
- Provide a checklist of tasks for a supervisor before they create a new maintenance program.
- To write a simple content for additional guidance or add a link to an external website or a video.
Guided journeys are available at the page and section levels. Each page and section can have their own guided journeys.
At a high level, creating a guided journey is a two-step process:
- Create a guided journey template.
- Associate the guided journey tasks at a page or section level using Oracle Visual Builder Studio (VB Studio) Express Mode.
Business Rules in VB Studio Express Mode
Business Rules is the Redwood equivalent of Transaction Design Studio for Responsive pages. It allows you to override the appearance and behavior of fields or regions on a page, provided, the specified conditions in a rule are met at runtime. Use business rules in VB Studio Express mode to mark fields and regions:
- Required or optional
- Read-only or editable
- Show or hide fields and regions
Guided journeys can help maintenance users to get guidance on the maintenance tasks they perform.
Steps to Enable
Leverage the Visual Builder Studio to expose your applications. To learn more about extending your application using Visual Builder, visit Oracle Help Center > your apps service area of interest > Books > Configuration and Extension.
Tips And Considerations
Guided Journey
You can:
- Create guided journeys at a page or section level. Other types of journeys such as contextual and survey aren’t supported.
- Associate guided journeys in VB Studio Express mode only. VB Studio in Advanced mode isn’t supported for journeys.
- Use the Manage Administrator Profile Values task in the Setup and Maintenance work area to see a list of the available profile options.
- Use the Checklist Lookups task in the Setup and Maintenance work area to see a list of the available lookups.
Business Rules
Close the Pages list when you work in the VB Studio Express mode. Doing so, gives you a clear view of the page you’re extending.
