Redwood: Use Locators on Transfer Orders
Locators provide you the ability to specify a more exact storage location for items within a subinventory. For instance, the specific row, rack, and bin where an item is stored within a stockroom. Internal material transfers, or transfer orders, represent formal requests to move material within an organization or between organizations. When creating a transfer order, you might want to specify exactly where the requested goods need to be moved to or sourced from. Prior to this update, when creating a transfer order, you could only specify a source or destination subinventory even if the subinventory specified was locator controlled. Now, you have the ability to specify the source or destination locator if the subinventory selected is locator controlled when creating a transfer order.
When you initiate the Create Transfer Order action on the Item Quantities page, you can select the destination subinventory or destination locator for an item. This navigates you to the the New Supply Request page where you can also specify the source locator for a locator-controlled subventory in the source organization. The transfer order created from the Item Quantities page derives the destination locator from the Item Quantities page and the source locator from the New Supply Request page. You must have material available in the source locator for the pick to be created automatically during the pick release process in the source organization. Upon shipment of the material from the source organization, the put away subinventory and locator are derived based on the transfer order line.
