Define External Purchase Prices Mappings for UNSPSC Codes with Purchasing Categories

Define external purchase prices mappings for UNSPSC codes with purchasing categories. These mappings help reduce the number of mappings for manufacturer part number with purchasing categories.

UNSPSC codes can be passed at a line level while importing data into external purchase prices either through REST APIs or using file-based data import (FBDI). These codes can be used to derive the purchasing category based on the mappings defined. The UNSPSC Code is not a mandatory attribute.

The purchasing category mapping can be defined either based on manufacturer part and manufacturer as per the existing functionality or based on the UNSPSC code using the new functionality.

The Purchasing Category tab in the External Purchase Prices Mappings page has been modified to include UNSPSC codes in the mapping.

From the external purchase price mappings page, download the template for external purchase price mappings. This predefined template uses the Oracle Visual Builder Add-in for Microsoft Excel to download, update, and create external purchase price mappings. The Purchase Category tab in the template now includes UNSPSC codes.

The ability to use a UNSPSC code to derive the purchasing category for description-based lines gives you the flexibility to reduce the number of mappings that need to be defined for every manufacturer part. This ensures that external purchase prices with valid purchasing categories are imported into the system.

You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.

Tips And Considerations

While importing External purchase Prices, the UNSPSC code at the line level is optional. The purchasing category is derived either based on the source purchasing category or MPN and manufacturer as per the existing functionality. If the category can’t be derived, the UNSPSC code is used, if available. If the purchasing category still can’t be derived, the external purchase prices line is imported as excluded for purchasing

Users who are assigned a configured job role that contains these privileges can manage or update the purchase category mappings using this feature:

  • Manage External Purchase Prices Mappings (SCH_MANAGE_EXTERNAL_PURCHASE_PRICES_MAPPINGS_PRIV)

Users who are assigned a configured job role that contains these privileges have a view-only access of the purchase category mappings using this feature:

  • View External Purchase Prices Mappings (SCH_VIEW_EXTERNAL_PURCHASE_PRICES_MAPPINGS_PRIV)
