Create Manufacturing Work Definition Reports with Additional Attributes Using Oracle Transactional Business Intelligence or OTBI

Additional metrics and attributes are now available in OTBI for the Manufacturing - Work Definitions Real Time subject area. To ensure the readiness of work definitions for downstream processes, such as supply planning, costing, and work execution, you can leverage the following new metrics in your reports:

  • Count of Complete Standard Item Work Definitions
  • Count of Incomplete Standard Item Work Definitions
  • Count of Work Definitions with Structure Changes

A work definition is considered complete when all the item structure components are assigned to work definition operations. If there is at least one item structure component that’s not assigned to a work definition operation, then the work definition is considered incomplete.

The Count of Complete and Incomplete Standard Item Work Definitions metrics don’t include ATO model work definitions. The Count of Work Definitions with Structure Changes metric includes ATO model work definitions only if the structure changes are at the first level components of the ATO model.

The following attributes have also been added:

  • Descriptive Flexfields in the Work Definition Operation, Work Definition Operation Outputs, Work Definition Operation Items, and Work Definition Operation Resources dimensions
  • Component Hierarchy, Effectivity Date, and Disable Date in the Work Definition Operation Items dimension
  • Step Name in the Work Definition Work Instruction Steps dimension
  • Work Area Inactive On in the Manufacturing Work Center dimension

The following screenshot shows an OTBI analysis to review incomplete work definitions in organization MAP1:

The additional metrics help ensure the readiness of work definitions for downstream processes, resulting in correct work orders for execution.

Steps to Enable

You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.

Tips And Considerations

  • You can't use the Manufacturing - Work Definitions Real Time subject area in OTBI to report on configured item work definitions, deleted work definitions, or maintenance work definitions.
  • The Work Definition dimension in the Manufacturing - Work Definitions Real Time subject area isn't a common dimension like the Work Definition dimension in the other Manufacturing subject areas. You can't use this Work Definition dimension to cross join with other Manufacturing subject areas at this time.
