Redwood: Set Up Landed Cost Routes Using the New User Experience
Routes let you group related trade operations into logical sequences that reflect real-world shipping paths, such as transporting goods from China to Singapore and then distributing them to warehouses in India, Australia, and the U.S. By assigning trade operations to routes, you gain new visibility into end-to-end shipping costs, simplify cost tracking across regions, and make more informed supply chain decisions. This enhances usability for planners and cost accountants by enabling clearer modeling of transportation flows and associated landed costs.
You can now define routes using the Redwood pages to streamline and enhance the global trade and cost analysis experience.
The Landed Cost Routes page displays all the configured routes by route code, name, description, and status. Context filters present in this new user experience allow you to view your routes by status: Active, Inactive, or All. The Actions column allows you to edit existing routes, delete routes that aren't being used in trade operations, and copy a route with its properties.
Landed Cost Routes
Using the navigation links at the bottom of the page, you can quickly access other related setup pages, such as Landed Cost Charges and Landed Cost Reference Types.
Create New Route
Create a new route by defining the route code, name, and description, and configure whether this is an active route that can be used in a trade operation. Additional information and attachments can be added to the route properties.
Creating a new route
Copy Route
You can also copy the properties of an existing route and create a new one. The properties of the copied route are automatically populated, allowing you to quickly review, modify, and create a replicated route with ease and efficiency.
Copying an existing route to create a new route
Some of the benefits of this feature include:
- Centralized Management: Access and manage all route-related information from a single location, improving visibility and making it easier for planners and cost accountants to define, review, and maintain transportation flows.
- Copy Route Functionality: Save time and reduce manual effort by copying existing routes. The application automatically populates the route properties, allowing quick creation of similar or variant routes without starting from scratch.
- Context Filters: Use filters to view and manage routes by status, allowing you to see only the most relevant information.
Steps to Enable
You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.
Tips And Considerations
- In the Setup and Maintenance work area, the Landed Cost Routes Redwood page is enabled by default in this update, but the existing version of the Manage Routes page is still available in the Manufacturing and Supply Chain Materials Management offering. You should move to the Redwood page at your earliest convenience, because future feature updates will reflect only on the Redwood page and not the older Manage Routes page.
- You can provide guidance such as tutorials, company policies, and best practices in the context of landed cost routes using guided journey tasks.
- Routes that are actively referenced in trade operations or templates can't be deleted to ensure data integrity and prevent disruption to ongoing or planned transactions. If you need to remove a route, first ensure it's no longer in use by any trade operation or template. This helps maintain consistency across your global trade processes and avoids accidental deletion of critical route configurations.
