Redwood: Set Up Landed Cost Reference Types Using the New User Experience

Landed cost charge reference types are unique references of trade documents executed as a part of a trade operation. Charge reference types are associated to a landed cost charge during setup to indicate the default business documents that generally drive the charge. The reference types associated to a charge name during charge definition will default to a trade operation charge and to the invoice line when it's classified with a landed cost charge name. You can associate one or multiple default reference types to charge names and, also, leverage reference types to facilitate invoice association by assigning an appropriate reference type to a charge. You can now set up reference types associated with landed cost charges using the new Landed Cost Reference Types page.

Create New Reference Type

When creating a reference type you can define the procurement BU set, code, name, description, and datatype of the reference type. Additional information and attachments can be added to the reference type properties as well.

Copy Reference Type

You can copy the properties of an existing reference type and create a new one. The properties of the copied reference are automatically populated, allowing you to quickly review, modify, and create a replicated reference type with ease and efficiency.

Some of the benefits of this feature include:

  • Centralized Management: Access and manage all reference type-related information from a single location, improving visibility and making it easier for planners and cost accountants to define, review, and maintain transportation flows.
  • Copy Reference Type Functionality: Save time and reduce manual effort by copying existing reference types. The application automatically populates the reference type properties, allowing quick creation of similar or variant reference types without starting from scratch.
  • Context Filters: Use filters to view and manage reference types by status, allowing you to see only the most relevant information.

Steps to Enable

You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.

Tips And Considerations

  • In the Setup and Maintenance work area, the Landed Cost Reference Types Redwood page is enabled by default in this update, but the existing version of the Manage Routes page is still available in the Manufacturing and Supply Chain Materials Management offering. You should move to the Redwood page at your earliest convenience, because future feature updates will reflect only on the Redwood page and not on the older Manage Routes page.
  • You can provide guidance such as tutorials, company policies, and best practices in the context of landed cost routes using guided journey tasks.
